In a significant update on clinical trials, the long-term results of the GIMEMA LAL2116 (D-ALBA) frontline trial for adult Philadelphia-positive ALL (Ph+ ALL) have been reported. The trial involved 63 patients of all ages and used dasatinib and blinatumomab in induction/consolidation. At a median follow-up of 53 months, impressive outcomes include disease-free survival at 75.8%, overall survival at 80.7%, and event-free survival at 74.6%. The study highlights the efficacy of a chemotherapy-free regimen based on dasatinib and blinatumomab, opening new possibilities in the management of adult Ph+ ALL patients.
