Longitudinal Association between Periodontitis and the Risk of Hypertension

A study investigated the connection between periodontitis and hypertension. 540 participants without hypertension were followed for 3 years. While there was no consistent link between periodontitis and hypertension, those with severe periodontitis had a higher risk of developing prehypertension/hypertension. Severe periodontitis may contribute to an increased risk of high blood pressure.
