A retrospective study spanning 1996 to 2019 examined treatment outcomes, patient-reported well-being, and associated costs for T1-T2 lip squamous cell carcinomas (lip SCC). Among the 336 cases analyzed, treatments included excision, Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS), and brachytherapy. The recurrence rates were 2.7% locally and 4.8% regionally, with 2% disease-related fatalities. Patient quality of life (QoL), facial function, and appearance were well-rated post-treatment. Notably, brachytherapy emerged as the costliest option. With a 98.2% disease-specific survival rate, MMS is the most practical choice for noncomplex lip SCCs, considering cost-effectiveness and risk of locoregional recurrences.
