The study investigated the potential of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in identifying initial inflammatory shifts in periodontal and periapical issues, often preceding bone loss. Out of 34 studies, 13 showed MRI's potential. MRI demonstrated promising diagnostic capabilities for soft and hard tissue alterations caused by these diseases, with comparable results to CBCT scans. This could revolutionize early disease detection without the need for ionizing radiation
