Major Increase in Incidence of Pediatric ACL Reconstructions From 2005 to 2021: A Study From the Norwegian Knee Ligament Register

The study revealed a 40-55% increase in pediatric anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) cases. The research, based on data from 1476 patients, highlights a shift towards more meniscal repairs (43%) compared to resections. Patient-reported outcomes show a lasting decrease in knee function over 10 years post-ACLR. With a 9.9% 5-year revision rate, the study calls for better long-term follow-up and management strategies for young ACLR patients.
