Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) can lead to significant intra- and post-operative hemorrhage, with a high risk of maternal death if not properly managed. The increasing rate of cesarean deliveries worldwide is linked to a higher prevalence of PAS. This problem is particularly acute in low- and middle-income countries, where limited health infrastructure contributes to increased morbidity and mortality for patients with PAS. In these settings, obstetricians often cannot follow international guidelines due to a lack of sophisticated resources, requiring them to use low-cost management procedures. This review discusses PAS management in low-resource environments, from prenatal evaluation to therapeutic options and inter-institutional collaboration.
