The study compared the effectiveness and safety of two drugs, ipragliflozin and sitagliptin, in treating patients with type 2 diabetes who were inadequately controlled with metformin and sulfonylurea. Both drugs improved glycemic control, but ipragliflozin showed additional benefits, such as reducing fatty liver indices, increasing ketone levels, and improving flow-mediated vasodilation. The safety profile of both drugs was similar. The study suggests that ipragliflozin can be a viable option for patients with type 2 diabetes who are not well controlled with metformin and sulfonylurea.
