
A study from the FinnBrain Birth Cohort found that higher maternal pre-pregnancy BMI is associated with altered hippocampal microstructure in newborns, particularly in the right hippocampus. No significant effects were observed in the amygdala. These findings highlight the potential intergenerational impact of maternal obesity on early brain development.
