Maternal Overweight/Obesity Increases ALL Risk in Daughters

Maternal overweight/obesity during early pregnancy increases the risk of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in daughters but not sons. In a cohort study of over 2.9 million children, daughters of overweight or obese mothers (BMI ≥25 kg/m²) had a 40% higher risk of ALL compared to those with mothers of normal BMI (SIR=1.4). No significant association was found with maternal gestational weight gain, suggesting maternal weight status is a key risk factor for ALL in girls.
