The study examined stress, emotional intelligence, and breastfeeding self-efficacy in 210 mothers of premature infants in the neonatal intensive care unit. Most mothers had low stress (75.2%) and high breastfeeding self-efficacy (61.9%). Emotional intelligence, stress, gestational age, and number of deliveries predicted breastfeeding self-efficacy. Results underscore the need to address maternal stress, enhance emotional intelligence, and provide support and education for mothers of preterm infants to improve breastfeeding success in the neonatal intensive care unit.
