MCL1 regulates AML cells metabolism via direct interaction with HK2. Metabolic signature at onset predicts overall survival in AMLs’ patients

Research reveals that distinct Acute Myeloid Leukemias (AMLs) exhibit variations in metabolic characteristics. Using advanced technology, a comparison between AML blasts and normal hematopoietic progenitors was conducted, highlighting lower respiratory and glycolytic capacities in leukemic cells. Based on Proton Leak (PL) values, AML blasts were classified into two distinct groups. The group with high PL, basal OXPHOS, and spare respiratory capacity (SRC) displayed shorter overall survival and increased expression of myeloid cell leukemia 1 (MCL1) protein.
