The article proposes a strategic framework for improving standards of care in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) by measuring key indicators across four domains in multidisciplinary models of care. NAFLD is a prevalent condition with various associated comorbidities, necessitating context-specific approaches. Primary care providers play a crucial role in diagnosing and risk-stratifying patients with probable fibrosis, enabling further assessment, treatment, and follow-up as needed. Optimal care for individuals with NAFLD involves collaboration between hepatologists, primary care providers, and other specialists managing related conditions such as endocrinology, obesity medicine, nutrition, cardiology, bariatric surgery, endoscopy, physical therapy, and mental health. Multidisciplinary models of care enhance coordination, equity, resource utilization, and patient outcomes through timely identification and intervention.
