Measuring the outcomes of lateral ridge augmentation using cone‐beam computed tomography

A retrospective study utilized cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging to assess bone regeneration following lateral ridge augmentation (LRA) surgeries. The study on 30 adult patients with pre- and post-surgery CBCT scans demonstrated excellent measurement reliability. Results indicated a significant increase in bone width and volume after LRA, with linear bone gain of 1.5 to 2.5 mm and volumetric gain ranging from 250 to 750 mm³. Notably, mandibular sites exhibited the highest success rates, while maxillary anterior areas posed challenges for LRA procedures. These findings emphasize LRA's potential for successful bone enhancement in implant preparation.
