The MEDCARE phase III trial explores the efficacy of progression-directed therapy (PDT) on overall survival (OS) in patients with oligoprogressive metastatic castration-refractory prostate cancer (mCRPC). This multicenter, randomized study includes 246 mCRPC patients allocated to standard care (surveillance or next-line systemic treatment, NEST) or PDT while continuing ongoing systemic treatment. Stratification criteria include the number and location of progressive lesions and prior therapies. Primary and secondary endpoints include OS, quality of life, progression-free survival, prostate cancer-specific survival, and PDT-induced toxicity. MEDCARE is the first phase III trial to evaluate PDT’s potential in delaying NEST and improving outcomes in oligoprogressive mCRPC.

A retrospective study of 161 adults found that plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) improved early soft tissue healing after endodontic surgery when used alone. Combined with a collagen membrane, PRGF reduced analgesic use, adverse effects and quality-of-life impact while preserving clinical attachment. However, benefits were limited when PRGF was combined with membrane and bone grafting.

In nine patients with severe, treatment-refractory MMP, tocilizumab reduced mean disease activity scores from 14.8 to 4.2. At final evaluation, 78% achieved partial remission and 11% complete remission.
