A recent study evaluated the real-world impact of semaglutide, an FDA-approved drug for diabetes and weight loss. Data from 3555 patients across ten health systems showed that, on average, patients lost 4.44% of their initial weight after using semaglutide. Notably, those with a history of diabetes mellitus had less weight loss, while individuals with prediabetes and linaclotide use experienced more significant weight loss. This study highlights the drug's effectiveness in real-world settings but suggests that results may differ from clinical trials. Machine learning analysis also identified factors for further research in tailoring weight loss therapy.
