This study compared the oral hygiene status of patients using mefakia, a traditional chewing wood, and modern toothbrushes. Conducted at Holy Bethel Dental Clinic in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the results showed that both mefakia and toothbrush users had similar oral hygiene outcomes, with 67% of toothbrush users and 65% of mefakia users maintaining good oral hygiene. The study suggests both tools are effective in promoting oral hygiene.
