Membranous Urethral Length and Urinary Incontinence post RARP?

A recent systematic review investigated the connection between preoperative membranous urethral length (MUL) and postoperative urinary incontinence (UI) in men undergoing robot-assisted prostatectomy. Results showed that longer MUL, as measured through MRI, was linked to reduced odds of incontinence (Pooled OR = 0.74, CI 0.68 ‐ 0.87, p < 0.001). Despite encountering some methodological and statistical heterogeneity, the findings suggest that preoperative MUL assessment via MRI could guide treatment decisions for men considering robot-assisted prostatectomy.
