Metabolomics Unveils Distinct Metabolic Profiles in Type 1 Diabetes Patients Based on Glycemic Control Levels

In a recent study, metabolomics was employed to scrutinize the metabolic profile variations in Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) patients with distinct time-in-range (TIR) values. The study examined 85 T1D patients and 81 healthy controls and discerned significant metabolite alterations. T1D patients exhibited distinct serum and urine levels compared to healthy controls. Notably, the TIR-L subgroup (TIR < 50%) displayed divergent metabolic profiles from the TIR-H subgroup (TIR > 70%). The findings spotlight potential molecular pathways contributing to diabetic complications, urging further exploration and understanding of these mechanisms.
