
Strong belief in the miasma theory worsens health outcomes in COPD patients. 81% of COPD patients endorsed high miasma beliefs, compared to 28% in controls. These patients had worse symptoms (mean CAT score: 23 vs 14), poorer quality of life (mean SGRQ score: 48 vs 39), and higher anxiety and depression. Elevated biomarkers like CRP were also observed, highlighting the need for targeted education to improve health outcomes
