
In a TCMA database study of 156 HNSCC patients, differential abundance analysis revealed microbial shifts associated with high-risk pathologic features, smoking, and disease-specific survival. Bacterial genera such as Scardovia, Alloscardovia, Lactobacillus, and Corynebacterium were linked to survival outcomes, suggesting the tumor microbiome may serve as a potential prognostic or mechanistic marker in head and neck cancer.
