Moderate-Intensity Statin With Ezetimibe Combination Therapy vs High-Intensity Statin Monotherapy in Patients at Very High Risk of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease: A Post Hoc Analysis From the RACING Randomized Clinical Trial

A study evaluated a moderate-intensity statin combined with ezetimibe in patients at very high risk (VHR) and non-VHR for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Conducted in Korea, the study found no significant difference in cardiovascular outcomes between combination therapy and high-intensity statin monotherapy for both VHR (11.2% vs 11.7%) and non-VHR (7.7% vs 8.7%) patients. Combination therapy led to lower LDL cholesterol levels and a greater proportion of patients achieving target levels. The study concludes that ezetimibe combination may be effective for ASCVD patients, regardless of their risk level.
