Multiorgan MRI findings after hospitalisation with COVID-19 in the UK (C-MORE)

A new study conducted in the UK reveals that COVID-19 survivors face significant multiorgan abnormalities even months after hospitalization. The study discovered that patients had a higher prevalence of MRI-confirmed abnormalities in the lungs, brain, and kidneys compared to the control group. These abnormalities were associated with older age, more comorbidities, and severe acute infection during the initial COVID-19 phase. Furthermore, lung abnormalities were linked to chest tightness, and multiorgan abnormalities correlated with persistent physical and mental health issues. The study underscores the need for long-term, comprehensive care for COVID-19 survivors, potentially guided by imaging techniques.
