Muscle Dysfunction Post-Critical Illness: A Review

The study highlighted significant muscle wasting and dysfunction in ICU patients, which persisted long after discharge, leading to reduced physical function, frailty, and disability. While clinical risk factors have been identified, there remains a lack of effective interventions to improve long-term recovery. The article provides an evidence-based review of the current understanding of muscle dysfunction in ICU survivors, focusing on the post-ICU and post-hospitalization phases of recovery.
