Narrowing of Low-Frequency Air-Bone Gap Enhances Symptom Relief in Superior Canal Dehiscence Syndrome

A recent cohort study conducted at a Tertiary Care Center delves into the connection between low-frequency air-bone gap (LABG) narrowing post-surgery and symptom resolution in superior canal dehiscence (SCD) syndrome. The study analyzed 217 SCD repairs from 2012 to 2022 and revealed that LABG narrowing correlates with improved auditory and vestibular symptom scores. However, the persistence of LABG is linked to a greater proportion of preoperative symptoms. Further research is needed to understand how symptoms resolve despite LABG persistence. The study emphasizes the clinical significance of LABG in SCD syndrome outcomes.
