The study aimed to determine the optimal parameters for delivering intranasal spray steroids to the ostiomeatal complex (OMC) and maxillary sinus (MS) in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Computational fluid dynamic modeling was used to simulate drug particle transport, airflow, and deposition patterns. Results showed that particle size and velocity had an impact on deposition patterns in both the OMC and MS, but spray release location varied depending on anatomical differences between patients, particularly when the MS was the target location. Therefore, it is challenging to determine a common set of intranasal spray parameter combinations for effective drug delivery to the OMC and MS.
