A study investigated the link between vision impairment (VI) and food insecurity among US adults below 150% poverty level using NHIS data from 2011 to 2018. VI was self-reported trouble seeing even with corrective lenses. Logistic regression analyses found VI associated with 216% higher odds of food insecurity, with a dose-response relationship. Marginal, low, and very low food security risks were 159%, 197%, and 295% higher for those with VI, respectively. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions to alleviate food insecurity among visually impaired low-income US adults.
