The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released new regulations for medical practitioners in India. These rules prohibit doctors and their families from receiving gifts, travel perks, cash, or recreation from pharmaceutical companies, healthcare establishments, or medical device firms. Doctors are also barred from endorsing drug brands or medical equipment. The regulations emphasize the timely provision of medical records to patients and advocate for the digitization of patient records within three years. Continuing professional development is mandated, with at least 30 credit hours every five years, which can only be earned from authorized institutions. The rules aim to ensure ethical conduct and transparency within the medical profession.
