New Study: Rigid Ureteroscopic Lithotripsy Shows Promise for Stone Treatment

A study evaluating the safety and efficacy of rigid ureteroscopic lithotripsy with a pressure-controlling ureteral access sheath (PC-UAS) for complex steinstrasse was conducted. Thirty-one patients were treated with this method. Results showed successful treatment in 29 patients, with maintained cavity pressure below 20 mmHg and clear vision. Mean operative time was 48.2 ± 17.7 min. No major complications occurred. Stone-free rates at 1 day and 1 month post-surgery were 93.1% and 96.6%, respectively. Rigid ureteroscopic lithotripsy with PC-UAS effectively controlled pressure, shortened operation time, and improved stone fragmentation efficiency, reducing complication rates.
