NHANES Examining Neutrophil-Albumin, Neutrophil-Lymphocyte, and Eosinophil-Lymphocyte Ratios as Predictors of Mortality in COPD Patients

NHANES Examining Neutrophil-Albumin, Neutrophil-Lymphocyte, and Eosinophil-Lymphocyte Ratios as Predictors of Mortality in COPD Patients

A recent study examined the predictive capabilities of hematologic inflammatory biomarkers, including Neutrophil-Percentage-to-Albumin Ratio (NPAR), Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR), and Eosinophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio (ELR), for mortality in individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Analyzing data from NHANES spanning 1999-2018, the study found that elevated NPAR and NLR were linked to higher all-cause and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality and mortality from chronic lower respiratory disease (CLRD). NPAR exhibited superior predictive performance for 5-year all-cause mortality compared to other biomarkers.
