The National Organ and Tissue Transplantation Organisation (NOTTO) has issued guidelines for organ donation from individuals with Covid-19 vaccine-induced thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT). Although rare, VITT poses a risk to organ viability due to clotting and decreased platelets. The guidelines stress the importance of gathering a complete vaccination history and assessing the risk-benefit ratio for transplantation in suspected/confirmed VITT cases. The UK experience of donors with VITT after the Covishield vaccine is cited, where complications led to unfavorable graft outcomes. The purpose of these guidelines is to inform healthcare workers about potential risks despite the rarity of VITT cases.
