NT-proBNP predicts pneumonia outcomes. A study of 2,805 hospitalized pneumonia patients found that elevated NT-proBNP levels correlated with higher 28-day mortality (OR 3.57, p < 0.001) and shorter survival (HR 2.03, p < 0.001). Results remained significant after adjusting for comorbidities and demographics. These findings suggest NT-proBNP as a valuable prognostic biomarker, particularly for high-risk pneumonia patients, aiding in risk stratification and clinical decision-making.
