Obesity and Mode of Delivery: Risks and Outcomes Analyzed

In a study of 27,472 women with obesity, planned non-labor cesarean section (NLCS) reduced the risk of adverse outcomes by 41% compared to spontaneous labor. Maternal-specific outcomes were reduced by 54%, and neonatal-specific outcomes by 30%. No significant difference was found between planned induction of labor and spontaneous labor. NLCS may be an option for planned delivery, but further research is needed.
