A 2016 double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in Tabriz, Iran, 60 obese participants were studied to evaluate the effects of Oleoylethanolamide (OEA) on triglycerides, fasting blood sugar, and dietary habits. The intervention group receiving 125 mg OEA capsules showed a significant reduction in triglyceride levels (166.29 mg/dL to 142.22 mg/dL, p=0.047), while no notable changes were observed in the placebo group. After adjusting for baseline values, the difference in triglycerides between groups remained significant (p=0.044). However, no significant changes were observed in other biochemical parameters or dietary habits. The results suggest that OEA plays a protective role in triglyceride regulation, though further studies are needed to assess its long-term effects and underlying mechanisms in obesity.
