Once‐weekly semaglutide use in patients with type 2 diabetes: real‐world data from the SURE Italy observational study

The SURE Italy study examined the effectiveness of once-weekly semaglutide in treating type 2 diabetes in routine clinical practice. The study included 579 patients, with 491 completing the study on treatment. The primary endpoint was a reduction in HbA1c levels, with secondary endpoints including changes in body weight, waist circumference, patient-reported outcomes, and the proportion of patients achieving certain HbA1c and weight loss goals. Results showed significant improvements in HbA1c levels and body weight, with a high proportion of patients achieving HbA1c and weight loss goals. Patient-reported outcomes also improved, and no new safety concerns were identified. The study suggests that once-weekly semaglutide is an effective treatment option for type 2 diabetes in routine clinical practice in Italy.
