One treatment with onabotulinumtoxinA relieves symptoms of overactive bladder in patients refractory to one or more oral medications

This exploratory post hoc analysis examined the impact of treatment history on the effectiveness of onabotulinumtoxinA (onabotA) for patients with overactive bladder (OAB). The study analyzed data from the GRACE study, which enrolled patients with OAB who had inadequate management with oral medications. The results showed that regardless of the type and number of prior oral medications, onabotA treatment significantly reduced urinary incontinence, urgency, micturition, and nocturia. The study also found that pad and liner use decreased significantly after onabotA treatment. Overall, the findings suggest that patients who are refractory to oral OAB medications may benefit from early treatment with onabotA.
