The study examined the one-year follow-up results of a phase 1/2 trial conducted in Japan on the AZD1222 (ChAdOx1 nCoV-19) vaccine. The trial involved 256 adults who were seronegative for SARS-CoV-2 and were divided into different age groups. The participants were randomized to receive either AZD1222 or a placebo, and safety, immunogenicity, and exploratory efficacy data were collected for 365 days. The results showed that the vaccine was well-tolerated and elicited immune responses against SARS-CoV-2. However, over time, the levels of antibodies against the virus declined, although they remained elevated compared to the levels observed on Day 15 of the study.
