Opdualag, a cancer medicine targeting advanced melanoma, has gained approval through Project Orbis—a global collaboration involving regulatory bodies from the UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Switzerland, Brazil, and Israel. Administered via a 30-minute hospital drip every four weeks, Opdualag's active ingredients, nivolumab and relatlimab, disrupt proteins PD-1 and LAG-3, enhancing T cell activity against melanoma. Supported by a phase 2/3 trial, the combined treatment showed greater efficacy, with patients experiencing a median progression-free survival of 10.1 months, compared to 4.6 months with nivolumab alone. Common side effects include fatigue, rash, and gastrointestinal symptoms. MHRA emphasizes ongoing safety monitoring.
