In this cross-sectional study, the application of optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) was used to evaluate conjunctival vessels in patients with dry eye disease (DED) compared to healthy controls. The DED group demonstrated a significant increase in total vessel length within the conjunctiva, suggesting a possible link between conjunctival hypoxia and the severity of the disease. However, there was no substantial difference in vessel density between the two groups. The study underscores the robust repeatability of OCTA in assessing conjunctival blood vessels and emphasizes the potential role of conjunctival tissue hypoxia in the pathogenesis of dry eye disease.
