Transepithelial corneal crosslinking (CXL) is a new treatment for keratoconus, a progressive eye disease. The study, conducted on 60 keratoconus patients, investigated the ideal duration for using silicone hydrogel (SiH) contact lenses after transepithelial CXL. Patients were divided into two groups, wearing SiH lenses for 7 or 3 days postoperatively. Both groups showed successful surgical outcomes, but group B (3-day use) reported lower postoperative discomfort. Corneal edema differed significantly between the groups on days 5 and 7. The study concludes that immediate use of SiH lenses, especially for three days, effectively reduces postoperative ocular distress after transepithelial CXL.
