The study investigated the clinical characteristics and prognosis of oral cavity carcinoma (OCC) in patients with a history of oral lichen planus (OLP) compared to patients without a history of OLP. The results showed that patients with a history of OLP were younger at presentation, had a higher proportion of females, and had less aggressive behavior at presentation. In addition, patients in the OLP group had a better overall and disease-free survival advantage. The study suggests that cancer from OLP may have a potential biological difference with cancer arising in non-OLP patients. Further investigations are needed to confirm these results.
