Real-world data support oral semaglutide as an effective and safe alternative to sulfonylureas in type 2 diabetes patients. In a study of 104 patients (mean age 68.9 years), HbA1c decreased significantly (from 7.62% to 7.42%, p=0.04), with a 3.03 kg body weight reduction (p<0.001). No hypoglycaemic events were reported, and significant improvements in fasting blood glucose, blood pressure, and cardiovascular risk were observed.
