According to National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization data, India has witnessed a surge in organ transplants following the decline in COVID-19 cases. Living organ donations rose by 65% in 2021, reaching 10,644 from 6,459 in 2020. In 2023, 7,107 transplants have been recorded, and 2022 saw 16,041 transplants, a 31% yearly increase. A recent scientific dialogue discussed issues related to kidney, liver, lung, heart, and hand transplants, as well as low deceased donation rates in India.
