Paroxysmal AF History Affects Cardioversion Recurrence Rates

Patients with a history of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (pAF) have earlier recurrence after direct current cardioversion (DCCV) compared to those with primary persistent atrial fibrillation (psAF). A study of 565 patients revealed that those with pAF had a median AF survival time of 1.6 months versus 5 months for psAF patients. The findings suggest a need for more aggressive early rhythm control in pAF patients due to higher recurrence rates.

An experimental triple antibiotic paste containing nitrofurantoin, ciprofloxacin, and metronidazole showed better cytocompatibility than conventional Hoshino antibiotic pastes and calcium hydroxide in human dental pulp stem cells. The paste maintained about 75% metabolic activity and better preserved cell viability, supporting further investigation as a medicament for regenerative endodontic procedures.

As a single-arm study, the findings are descriptive and require controlled confirmation.

The findings support phenotype-informed risk assessment and personalized prevention and treatment.
