A recent study on Heart Failure reveals that while coverage for cardiac rehabilitation (CR) for heart failure patients has expanded, referral and participation rates remain low. The study found that only 24.6% of eligible patients with heart failure were referred to CR. The referral rates increased from 8.1% in 2010 to 24.1% in 2020. Among Medicare patients who remained clinically stable after discharge, the CR referral rate was 25.8%, but the participation rate was only 4.1%. The study highlights the need for improved access and utilization of CR for heart failure patients.
