The cross-sectional study compared laboratory performance metrics in 75 transgender and cisgender athletes. Transgender women had lower aerobic capacity and jump height but higher handgrip strength than cisgender women. Transgender men had lower grip strength and VO2 max than cisgender men. Findings highlight the need for sport-specific research rather than blanket bans on transgender athlete participation.
