A clinical trial examined the impact of collagen-based bone-filling material on periapical healing in endodontic lesions with four-wall defects after endodontic microsurgery (EMS). Eighty-six lesions were involved, with EMS performed by postgraduate residents. Results after 12 months showed no significant difference in healing between the control (no material added) and treatment (collagen-based material added) groups in periapical radiographs or CBCT scans. However, the treatment group exhibited a higher percentage of buccal cortical plate re-establishment, suggesting potential clinical benefits. This study contributes to the understanding of surgical endodontic treatment outcomes.
