A recent retrospective study aimed to assess peri-zygomatic complications (PZCs) in zygomatic implant (ZI) procedures has yielded crucial findings. The study, involving 32 patients, categorized them into two groups based on implant penetration of the zygoma's external surface. Over a 2-year follow-up, PZCs were observed in 18.3% of cases, with the penetration group experiencing a significantly higher incidence at 29.7% compared to 5.9% in the non-penetration group. Extension length impacted complication rates, while penetration section and skin thickness showed no significant influence. The study underscores the importance of precise ZI placement to mitigate PZC risks.
