This study evaluated Baxdrostat (BDT), an aldosterone synthase inhibitor, in patients with treatment-resistant hypertension (RH). It involved 248 participants and found that BDT led to dose-dependent reductions in systolic blood pressure (BP) compared to a placebo. The reduction in systolic BP ranged from -20.3 mm Hg for 2 mg BDT to -9.4 mm Hg for placebo. No serious adverse effects were attributed to BDT, though two patients experienced elevated potassium levels that normalized after drug adjustment. BDT shows promise as a treatment option for treatment-resistant hypertension.
