The study reports the results of a Phase I trial of a subcutaneous dual agonist for glucagon receptor and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor in overweight/obese Japanese men. Multiple doses of BI 456906 were investigated over 16 weeks, and the drug was found to decrease body weight by up to 12.37% compared to the placebo. Some adverse effects were reported, with decreased appetite being the most common. The study suggests that BI 456906 is well-tolerated and has potential as a treatment for obesity.
