Physicians recognize the need for tailored tobacco-cessation programs for RA patients. A study of 20 physicians (10 PCPs, 10 rheumatologists) found that many PCPs underestimated smoking’s impact on RA. Most preferred cessation drug therapy over nicotine replacement and suggested Quitline or peer support. Barriers included time constraints and lack of training. Addressing these obstacles with education and incentives may enhance tobacco cessation efforts in RA patients.
